Many problems can cause a loss of efficiency in a distillation column
such as flooding, tray damage, entrainment weeping, and plugged
downcomers to name a few. TRACERCO Diagnostics™ Tower Scan
measurements are a powerful tool that can be utilized to locate the origin
and/or severity of these problems. A TRACERCO Diagnostics™ Tower Scan across the active area
of a fractionation tray can provide hydraulic conditions and/or mechanical
status of the active area, like entrainment, weeping, and tray froth heights. A scan through the tray downcomers provide hydraulic and/or mechanical
status based on the level of liquid measured in the downcomers.
The TRACERCO Diagnostics™ Tower Scan can provide information to plant personnel that will
give them confidence to choose the lowest cost option for remediation
of the column’s problem.
