high reliability
- Provides real-time in line or in vessel measurements
- External automatic compensation for changes in vessel operating
pressure
The TRACERCO™ Smart Density gauge is a custom designed density
measurement system that can be used in a wide range of applications on
a refinery or chemical processing plant including:
- Density measurement of single, two or three phase process mixtures
- Gas or water slug presence, velocity, volume and frequency
- Oil in water or water in oil breakthrough at low levels in two
phase separators
- Liquid carry over or vapor carry under within separation vessels
- Solids build-up on vessel or pipe walls
- Measurement of slurry concentrations in vessels or transfer pipelines
The TRACERCO™ Smart Density gauge is a non-invasive system designed
to ensure reliable density measurements. The gauge consists of a very
small radioactive source housed within a shielded container and a sensitive
detector. The detector is housed in a flameproof enclosure and is suitable
for use in hazardous areas up to and including Class 1 Div 1. The detector
and shield are mounted externally to the pipe with no moving parts eliminating
mechanical failure or fouling. Radiation is attenuated by material placed
in its’ path. Attenuation depends on the thickness of the material
and its density. In a typical application within a processing plant the
radiation beam will be attenuated by the pipe or vessel walls and the
process medium. As attenuation by the walls is constant, any variation
in intensity at the detector will be caused by variation in the process
medium. The system is calibrated using known densities of materials passing
between the source and detector. The radiation count rate is stored within
the instrument microprocessor for a given density. This is then used to
accurately calculate density of materials within the process at any given
time.
