Middle East demand sees Tracerco launch new operations in Abu Dhabi
Date:30/10/2008
Leading industrial technology specialist Tracerco, is expanding
its operations in the Middle East by establishing a new
regional service centre in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
Located in the Mussafah industrial district, the regional
hub will eventually enable Tracerco to offer locally its
full range of technical services, which had previously been
supplied to the region from the company’s Billingham,
UK headquarters.
The office will be managed by Tony Hood, Tracerco’s
business development manager for Middle East and North Africa
(MENA) and Middle East regional manager, Hamdan Saleh, who
has joined the team having previously worked in Tracerco’s
Asian operations. They will be joined by a small number
of highly trained and experienced scientists and engineers
seconded into the region whilst the company recruits and
trains local staff. The initial priority will be to provide
our oil and gas customers a fast, local response to their
process diagnostic needs, though technical services for
specialist instrumentation systems, radiological protection
advice and reservoir analysis will also be available.
Tracerco has already established a Middle East presence.
It currently employs a multi discipline team of chemists
and engineers in a service centre in Oman featuring a ‘state
of the art’ laboratory supporting Tracerco’s
reservoir analysis business in the region.
Tracerco managing director Andy Hurst, said: “Opening
our Abu Dhabi office will strengthen our position in the
region. Hamdan and Tony have a wealth of technical knowledge
and experience that will underpin our rapid growth of local
capability. While the level of drilling and exploration
in the Middle East may have levelled off, we have seen an
increased demand for our services which help maximise production
not least in support of EOR projects designed to maximise
hydrocarbon recovery from mature oil fields. The fast growing
refining and petrochemical sector will also be a priority.
“The new office will provide a focal point for Tracerco’s
Middle East operations and is a direct response to our customer’s
demand for a faster more cost effective deployment of the
full range of our technology. There is no limit on the level
investment we are prepared to make to deliver this goal;
ultimately the extent of our technical resource, analytical
laboratories and workshop facilities will be bespoke designed
by our customers needs.
