Distribution Study

Tracerco have developed a technique, the TRACERCO Diagnostics™ - Distribution Study, which allows our customers to fully understand the distribution characteristics which are occurring within their packed bed distillation column. The study, which can be carried out using either a tracer or a non-tracer technique enables us to identify and quantify the extent of mal-distribution occurring within the column and thereby allows the vessels operation to be modified, if required, and optimised.

Features of the TRACERCO Diagnostics™ - Distribution Study

  • A rapid and reliable method of characterising the process conditions that exist within a packed bed.
  • Provides real-time data
  • Can use a non intrusive technique (non-tracer)
  • Tracer technique mimics material flow regime
  • No sampling is required and no vessel preparation is required
  • Rapid response available from Tracerco
  • Able to link in with Computerised Fluid Dynamic CFD models to verify existing process conditions

Benefits of the TRACERCO Diagnostics™ - Distribution Study

  • Confirms actual operating conditions within the packed bed (mal-distribution)
  • Allows the customers to optimise performance of the packed bed
  • Identifies if higher production through vessel is possible
  • Enables customers to optimise maintenance strategy for the vessel
  • Greater understanding of production rates relationship with carryover, pressure drop, etc.
