| Optimisation of Hydrocarbon Cracking Units
The
Cracking of high molecular weight hydrocarbons
into more valuable, low molecular weight compounds using
a Fluidised Catalytic Cracking Unit (FCCU) is a key process
operation in our customers refinery processes and Tracerco
fully understand that the efficiency of this process can
have a dramatic effect on the financial and environmental
performance of the overall refinery. That is why we have
developed and carried out on our customers facilities a
number of TRACERCO Diagnostics - FCCU Studies, which
utilises novel tracer technology (vapour, liquid and solid),
so that the overall performance of our customers FCCUs
can be understood & optimised.
The TRACERCO Diagnostics - FCCU Study is able
to investigate and measure all the following process operational
conditions:
- Vapour & Catalyst Riser Velocities:
- Vapour to Catalyst Slip Ratio in Riser;
- Plug Flow of Vapour & Catalyst in Riser;
- Vapour & Catalyst flow distribution / residence
time in reactor;
- Catalyst Flow Profile in Stripper;
- Distribution of Stripping Steam in Riser;
- Catalyst Regenerator Residence Time;
- Cyclone Efficiency;
- The Density Profile in the Riser / Catalyst Stand Pipe;
- Reactor / Regenerator Level Profiles;
- The Channelling of Vapour in Reactor;
- The Detection of deposits in Reactor Overheads;
Features of the TRACERCO Diagnostics - FCCU Study
- A rapid, accurate, safe and reliable method of characterising
the various process conditions that exist within a fluidised
Cracker and the associated transfer pipes.
- A study which is undertaken by a team of highly trained
and skilled process engineers.
- A technique which uses tracers able to mimic the flow
of liquids, solids and gases.
- A non-intrusive measurement technique which places the
detection devices on the outside of the vessel.
- Rapid response available from Tracerco.
Benefits of the TRACERCO Diagnostics - FCCU Study
- Confirms the actual operating conditions within the
FCCU allowing our customers to optimise its performance.
- Identifies if losses (catalyst) are occurring from the
FCCU unit.
- Enables customers to optimise maintenance strategy for
the FCCU (deposit build-up, losses)
- Greater understanding of production rates relationship
with process performance data.
