Oil & Water In-Flow Profiling

The basis of the technology is the controlled and long term release of Smart Tracers from specially engineered polymer systems. Each system is formulated to actively distinguish between water and oil in complex multiphase environments. Smart Tracer release is triggered immediately and automatically through contact with either oil or water flowing across its surface. The system remains passive until such contact occurs and remains viable in this passive state for many years. Upon triggering, the tracer molecules release in a controlled and sustained manner allowing quantification of flow for several years through surface sampling of fluids and ultra-high precision chemical analysis.

Analysis is undertaken at one of Tracerco's six globally located specialist analytical labs. Detection limits of our tracers vary depending on flow, tracer choice and analysis type, but are typically ppt (part per trillion) and below using our state-of-the-art laboratory based equipment and methodology.

If immediate flow data is required allowing critical well intervention decisions to be made, Tracerco can analyse at your onshore or offshore site, providing results in real time during first flow and well clean up.

Smart Tracers are selected from Tracerco's library of over 200 unique species. They are non-toxic, non-radioactive, and have excellent longevity. From our library, we can access a large number of tracers for each project, allowing measurement of oil and water in-flow from multiple zones in complex reservoirs.

Tracerco's engineered polymer systems are flexible, heat-resistant, and highly adaptable, making them easy to integrate into normal lower completion designs, either at a screen vendor manufacturing site, Tracerco site or a client's facility.
