Contracts Advisor

The Contracts Advisor shall assist the Legal Counsel by drafting, reviewing and negotiating contracts, purchase order terms and conditions, non-disclosure agreements and similar legal documentation. The Contracts Advisor shall seek to understand and minimize the contractual and legal risk to the Company, assist in the training and development of the Commercial teams and at all times shall ensure that the agreements entered into, comply with all Company and Group Company requirements.

The Contracts Advisor shall support the Legal Counsel in overseeing and managing the legal and compliance requirements of the global business and, in particular shall ensure that they act in a way that is in full compliance with JM’s code of ethics and all applicable laws.

Your responsibilities:

  • Provide clear and accurate contractual reviews in a timely manner to internal customers.
  • Communicate contractual qualifications and requirements to Commercial Managers and other internal customers and external customers.
  • Communicate in a professional, clear and effective manner to all levels of the Company and Group Company.
  • Understand and minimize the Company’s exposure to legal, commercial and contractual risk.
  • Build and maintain relationships with both internal and external customers.
  • Contribute to the development of strategies for the efficient administration of agreements globally.
  • Support the business by maintaining the proper administration and filing of the agreements and associated documents.
  • Provide general support to Legal Counsel with discrete legal or commercial reviews on a variety of subjects including lease documents, software agreements, HR agreements, compliance issues and similar.
  • Assist with legal and compliance training both face-to-face and via electronic means.
  • Provide a point of contact for customer screening to ensure compliance with all trade and export control requirements within the Company.
  • Assist in the implementation of new compliance requirements.
  • Embed a zero-tolerance approach to bribery and corruption.

Requirements for the role:

  • Must be degree educated, most likely in Law or similar related discipline
  • Must have three or more years’ experience in reviewing and negotiating contracts
  • Experience in the Chemical, Oil and Gas or Construction industry
  • Experience in international contract reviews
  • Experience of offshore contracts and Insurance matters
  • Knowledge of US Compliance requirements, such as the US foreign corrupt practices acts legislation.
  • Experience in implementing customer screening procedures
