Graduate Electronics Engineer

The Graduate Electronics Engineer is an entry-level role, for an individual who will develop to become a capable electronics design engineer.

Tracerco is a world leader in process diagnostic measurement services and specialist measurement instrumentation. Our products and services make industrial processes, typically in the petrochemical industries, much safer, cleaner and more efficient. The Product Development and Innovation team deploys a mix of skills to design, implement and support the creation of new instrumentation. This requires electronics engineers with strong general design skills and specific expertise. For instance, in radiation detection and measurement, functional safety, and circuit design for intrinsic safety in explosive atmospheres. The Graduate Electronics Engineer will build from a sound base of education and aptitude, to develop skills over a 2-3 year timeframe. There is a large overlap between electronics development and embedded software development, so some aspect of software development for embedded or test platforms may also be developed over time.

The successful candidate must have completed all requirements of their degree and be able to start in role within 2 months.

Key responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, test and support electronic components and assemblies, to support and expand Tracerco’s product portfolio.
  • Maintain a commitment to personal continuing professional development (CPD), learning and development withing role.
  • Collaborate closely with other members of the NPI Engineering team and the wider, multi-discipline product development team to deliver products to project plans efficiently
  • Work safely at all times and proactively engage with EHS activities in order to protect wellbeing of all Tracerco employees and customers, and limit Tracerco’s environmental impact
  • Carry out any other duties which are within the employee’s skills and abilities whenever reasonably instructed

Are you the ideal candidate?

You will have:

  • A degree in electronics engineering or closely-related subject. Masters degree is desired but not essential.
  • Fundamental understanding of electronics principles and how circuits are designed.
  • A problem-solving attitude which will assist with hardware development and troubleshooting
  • Hands-on experience with electronic components, which may include assembly, troubleshooting and rework of PCB assemblies
  • Experience using modern electronic design software
  • Understanding of microcontroller / embedded software principles
