We are currently looking for a Mechanical CAD Engineer to join our Measurement Insights Engineering team.

In this position you will be part of the Measurement Insights team responsible for providing engineering design service and support to the business.

Reporting to the Engineering team leader it will include working collaboratively with colleagues and stakeholders on various engineering design projects.

You will be given autonomy to pursue robust engineering designs to cost, specification and schedule within a structured multidiscipline team. Able to perform basic engineering calculations unsupported and be conversant with 3D CAD modelling/drafting, to generate Bills of Materials, document registers, and supporting documentation for build packs. The role also involves coordination of manufacture with suppliers.

Key responsibilities

  • Design mechanical components, systems and assemblies, in line with design constraints and specifications. To produce safe and functional products.
  • Perform CAD and drafting to the required company standard using Solidworks.
  • Produce products and solutions conformant with applicable standards and current regulations.
  • Perform and document design calculations and analysis using the appropriate tools.


Are you the ideal candidate?

Essential qualities:

  • Qualified to HND or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering (Essential)
  • Skilled with Solidworks or another 3D CAD system. (Essential)
  • Experience with 3D CAD – able to model parts and assemblies efficiently and produce clear, correctly dimensioned drawings. (Essential)
  • Experience of working with mechanical products, manufacturing environment, Metallic Products.
  • Experience of petrochemical/plant experience (highly desirable)
