Tracerco achieves safety milestone

25/04/2022

As World Day for Safety and Health at Work is approaching, one of the world’s leading industrial technology specialists, has achieved a safety milestone of three years without a Lost Time Injury (LTI).

Tracerco, part of the Johnson Matthey group, is proud to have achieved an exemplary safety record – of over 1100 days incident free – which it believes is down to the dedication and professionalism of its staff who all embrace Tracerco’s robust safety practices.

The annual World Day for Safety and Health at Work – held on 28th April – provides the opportunity for companies to promote the prevention of occupational hazards and incidents, highlighting how a positive safety and health culture can help reduce the number of work-related deaths and injuries.

Operating across the globe – in some of the harshest and most challenging environments, and with hazardous materials – safety and health is at the heart of Tracerco’s day-to-day activities. As such, the company has implemented a number of leading safety indicators, such as Learning Events, Safety Tours and Conversations, as well as Safety Stand Down events.

In December, Tracerco successfully completed its annual Safety Stand Down event where, the company requests everyone in the business to stand down from their day job as part of the company’s commitment to health and safety, employee wellbeing and the environment.

As part of the company’s 2021 weeklong event, speakers included Paralympic gold medallist Matt Wylie who focused on the importance of habits and overcoming challenges; Astronaut Mike Mullane who presented the approach of predictable surprises and how to manage these within a business and Chris Lemons, Saturation Diver who concentrated on mitigating risks within confirmed space entry.

Speaking about the company achieving this safety milestone Jon Tate, Managing Director at Tracerco said: “It takes a real team effort to ensure everyone always goes home to their families and friends, safely. Leading indicators are not the whole story, however, to sustain an LTI rate of zero for three years is true testament to the dedication and professionalism of all our staff, and something we will of course continue to build upon.”

“Safety and safety conversations are absolutely integral to our DNA and, as such, we ensure we operate with safety at the forefront of everything we do. The annual world safety and health day is a great reminder for businesses across the globe of the important role safety plays in any workplace.

“As we continue with our daily operations, we need to ensure that we continue to maintain such high standards and not take anything for granted. Working together, and with the right mind set, we can all continue to be safe, every hour, every day, every week and every year.”
