As part of the week-long annual event, each day takes on a specific safety theme and includes a number of guest speakers who can contribute to a specific safety element within the business. This year’s speakers included paralympic gold medallist Matt Wylie who focused on the importance of habits and overcoming challenges; Astronaut Mike Mullane who presented the approach of predictable surprises and how to manage these within a business and; Chris Lemons, Saturation Diver who concentrated on mitigating risks within confined space entry.
Speaking about the week’s stand down, Jon Tate, Managing Director at Tracerco said: “Annual Safety Stand Down Week is very important to our business. Tracerco is a business where safety and safety conversations are absolutely integral to our DNA and we pride ourselves on running an organisation that is safe, where people feel cared for and where they can go home safely at the end of the day.”
“Annual Safety Stand Down Week makes sure this mantra remains front of mind for the whole business and provides us with the yearly opportunity to reconfirm our commitment to it whilst also learning and sharing collective knowledge.”
And it is this commitment to Health and Safety, and the wellbeing of employees, which has seen the Tracerco business go 987 days without a lost time incident, something that the company takes very seriously and is committed to maintaining.
“Even the restrictions presented to us by COVID-19 was not going to prevent us from running this hugely important business event, added Jon, with the decision taken to deliver the whole week as a virtual event. And with over 20 locations across the globe, this was by no means an easy task but one we remained absolutely committed to in continuing to drive forward the health, safety and wellbeing standards we’re very proud of.”
