Dangerous goods safety advisory service

Our team of Dangerous Goods Safety Advisers (DGSA) are fully certificated by the Department for Transport and can provide Class 7 (radioactive) transport advice, training, and annual audits and reports. This ensures client operational safety, and compliance with national and international transport legislation.

Our experience includes the following:

  • Normally Occurring Radioactive Material (NORM)/ Low Specific Activity (LSA)
  • Surface Contaminated Objects (SCO)
  • Radioactive material samples / Excepted Packages
  • Special Form Sealed Sources / Type A packages
  • Radiation and Contamination Monitoring / Transport Index
  • Radiation Management Systems, Risk Assessments and Contingency Plans
  • Goods Classification and Documentation

Our advisers have the complete suite of products and services available to them, including radiochemical analysis and radiation monitors. We can provide advice on a broad range of Class 7 transport issues, including compliance, transport risk assessments, contingency arrangements and emergency plans, security plans for high consequence dangerous goods, incident investigation and reporting, radiation and contamination monitoring, classification of goods, packaging and documentation, and a suite of training including radiation awareness training and Class 7 transport training up to consignor level.

Our Dangerous Goods Safety Advisers are able to carry out site visits and audits, comparing records, equipment and operating procedures against current transport legislation.

All our DGSAs are also active members of the Radiation Protection Advisory (RPA) and Radioactive Waste Advisory (RWA) team which collectively boasts over 100 years’ experience in radiation protection. With our extensive knowledge and understanding of ionising radiation and relative legislation, Tracerco is uniquely placed to offer both stand-alone Class 7 DGSA, or combined DGSA/RPA/RWA services to our clients.  Combined services allow for a cradle to grave approach and help ensure that all legislative requirements related to the accumulation, transport, and disposal or transfer of radioactive materials under the Ionising Radiations Regulations 2017, environmental permitting regulations, and transport regulations are complied with via one service provider. We offer practical guidance which reduces the likelihood of consignment errors, or confusion arising between the different legislative requirements.
