Separators

Invaluable insights for separators

A Tracerco DiagnosticsTM separator study can provide the insights you need to increase production rates and reduce costs. It can detect oil in water, water in oil, gas undercutting, or liquid carry-over. It can also identify the effect of blockages in perforated plates, and accurately measure individual phase residence times. A special benefit of our Tracerco DiagnosticsTM separator study, is the ability to measure the overall liquid level and any exiting intermediate layers, such as foam or emulsion This allows customers to test the effectiveness or determine the best-suited demulsifier chemical for their process. These results can lead to increased efficiency and significant cost savings, as well as reducing the environmental impact of excess chemical use.

Tru-Scan™ and PhaseFinder™ studies of a separator will reveal the liquid level, the presence and height of any foam, the oil and water interface position and extent of emulsion band, as well as the presence and extent of sand deposits within the vessel. The technologies will also detect internal hardware issues such as inlet device damage. The scans are carried out whilst the vessel is operating, so real-time information is obtained about how the vessel is performing at the current operating conditions. The technology ‘sees through’ the vessel wall, allowing a determination of what is happening inside, without the need to shut down. The scan results provide a density profile of the internal process, which provides detailed information about the interface qualities. It can be used to assist in trials of anti-foaming or emulsion-breaking chemicals to determine the best type and concentration to use.

The TracercoTM Profiler also enables you to accurately measure and control the distribution of fluids inside a Separator. This includes the interface between water and oil and oil and gas, the extent of foam build up, the total liquid position and the build up of sand. This information can then be used to optimise separation efficiency to increase production throughput.
